Entering text into Google Sheets and Excel Online cells

Cell edit mode matters

Spreadsheets treat a selected cell differently from a cell you are editing. To enter text into a cell reliably, open the cell for editing first (double-click or press Enter), so keystrokes land inside the cell rather than triggering shortcuts on the grid.

Controlled typing into a cell

PasteFlow supports Google Sheets and Excel Online while the selected cell is in edit mode. Use Inspect Target to confirm the cell, keep a moderate speed, and enter your prepared text. This is useful for long cell contents you have drafted elsewhere.

What to watch for

Because spreadsheets react to Enter and Tab, avoid pasting content that depends on those keys unless you intend to move between cells. Test a short sample. The tool keeps your data in the browser and does not submit anything.

Common questions

Why does typing jump between cells?

The cell was not in edit mode, so Enter and Tab moved the selection. Open the cell for editing first.

Are both Sheets and Excel Online supported?

Yes, both in cell edit mode. Native desktop spreadsheet apps are not supported.
